INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDENT HEALTH SERVICE

WHAT IS THE STUDENT HEALTH SERVICE?
The Student Health Service is a program of services available to full-time students enrolled in the medical or allied professional schools of Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine (WUSM).

The goal of the Student Health Service is to deliver efficient, accessible, high-quality medical care, without undue financial burden, in order to prevent and treat health problems that may interfere with a student’s educational and professional goals while attending WUSM.

A copy of the plan document describing the WUSM Student Health Service benefit is available at your request. With this, students should have all the pertinent information to understand what services are available to them through the Student Health Service. Washington University reserves the right to amend or terminate, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice, the WUSM Student Health Service benefit described in the plan document.

The Student Health Service is under the direction of Dr. Karen S. Winters. The Student Health Service is supported solely by the fees paid by full-time students of WUSM. Only those services approved by and coordinated through the Student Health Service are covered. The cost of all other care, unless given prior approval, is the responsibility of the student.

Student Health Services covers expenses not covered by private insurance, or in the absence of private insurance. If you have private insurance, all bills should be submitted to your insurer before filing through the Student Health Service.

Student Health Service welcomes your interest and needs your cooperation. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding enrollment or benefits and services as described, please contact Betty Feagans at Student Health Service, 4525 Scott Ave, Room 3420, 314-362-2346,
