Spouses and Dependents

SPOUSES AND DEPENDENTS

For students needing health insurance for their spouse and/or dependents, several sources of information has been put together for you convenience. You are not obligated to enroll for any of these plans. However, students frequently ask if they can purchase health coverage for their spouse and/or dependents. Students are strongly encouraged to enroll in an individual insurance plan if planning a family. Most individual insurance plans will deny or delay coverage for you and your dependent if enrolled during pregnancy. For your convenience Student Health Services has partnered with Destefano & Associates to assist you with spouse/dependent insurance information. Please contact Sharon Silver at 636-230-2928. DeStefano & Associates will be available to assist you in determining which plan will best fit your family's needs.

If your spouse is currently covered by health insurance you may be eligible for a cobra plan. In most cases this may extend your health coverage for up to 18 months.
